When you loose your cool in a critical situation, in such a way that casts an everlasting shadow over your prestige earned over a life-span.
Cuando pierdes tu estilo y compostura en una situación crítica, de una manera tal que afecta el prestigio ganado a lo largo de toda una vida.

Why did I choose Zinedine Zidane name for this syndrome? Thousands of millions of viewers around the globe watched the excellent craftmanship of this French soccer player during the recent World Cup. But then, in the last minutes of the Final game and his outstanding professional career, Zidane head-butted his Italian oponent Marco Materazzi in the chest, throwing him to the ground along with his reputation as a gentleman in the field.
La reputación puede ser buena o mala, la fama es efímera, pero el prestigio es el más valioso de los tres porque confiere un margen de credibilidad a las relaciones.
Uso el nombre de Zidane para este síndrome, porque lo que le pasó a este sobresaliente futbolista francés, le puede pasar a cualquiera en el peor momento posible. Quizá, la manera más elegante de haber contestado al insulto de Materazzi (cualquiera que éste haya sido) habría sido levantar la Copa de campeón.
